Hawalali kwa nyumba: Khwisero MP raises alarm as wives complain of absentee husbands

Hawalali kwa nyumba zao! Khwisero Member of Parliament Christopher Aseka has raised a concern over increased cases of men not returning to their homes, a move that has left women in a dilemma.

Aseka alleged that he has received claims from women in his constituency that their husbands have chosen alcohol over their families, with some having left their wives in the cold and in thought.

Speaking to residents in Khwisero, Aseka said he has appointed a few individuals who will work closely with authorities to make sure by 6PM every man is with his family.

He alleged that women have now decided to have other male friends because their men are nowhere to be seen in their homes, an act that may break marriage.

“Men, you are creating problems in your homes. Your wives are complaining that alcohol has married you. You value alcohol more than your homes,” Aseka alleged.

The lawmaker added that for a strong home, a man must be there to guide and offer protection, but Khwisero men are not for it. He said he will not sit back and see men taking alcohol anyhow and leaving their duties as men at homes.

He questioned the authorities to work decisively to make sure from 6PM there are no men on roads or in clubs or chang’aa dens to promote peace in their homes.

Further, he alleged that Khwisero was a good place some time back, but a few individuals decided to start chang’aa businesses to destroy youths and married individuals.

He confirmed that youths are benefiting chang’aa brewers while their health deteriorates slowly, making them weak and unproductive.

“I will not sit back and see my youths being destroyed by chang’aa; I will close all kiosks that sell the deadly alcohol to my voters because without them, Khwisero will not grow,” Aseka said.

During the event, women were also accused of taking alcohol. He called upon women who take alcohol to look for something healthy because men don’t want drunkard women.

He said some women don’t cook for their husbands, thus allowing men to seek shelter with sidechicks, leaving their children fatherless.

Aseka asked women to choose their husbands as their first priority to reduce cases of infidelity in marriage and raise a better family.

“I have also seen women taking alcohol; please stop. How will you attend to your husband while drunk? Let’s raise a good family without dramas so that our children succeed,” Aseka encouraged.

Further, he affirmed that his office has taken measures to reduce illicit brewing in his constituency, urging chiefs and assistant chiefs to embrace the move.

In addition, he highlighted that some chiefs are sleeping on their jobs and some have cooperated with brewers to sell chang’aa to Khwisero residents, saying he will not accept it.

The legislator affirmed his commitment to weed out all individuals who are selling the stuff to young people, destroying their ambitions to become tomorrow’s leaders.

“When you give chang’aa to a youth, you have destroyed tomorrow’s leader. We must shun those behaviours to save our community,” he said.
