Wetang’ula, Farouk Kibet Lead Fundraiser at Ndengelwa Catholic Church
President William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, on Sunday, joined National Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dr. Moses Wetang’ula, at Ndengelwa Catholic Church in Bukembe West Ward, Kanduyi Constituency, Bungoma County, for Sunday Mass and a fundraising drive towards the completion of the church sanctuary.
The colourful service, held on the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, drew hundreds of faithful from across Bukembe West and neighbouring wards, who turned up to worship and support the church project.
Kibet had the honour of accompanying the Speaker, who was the Chief Guest at the event, in a show of unity between the national leadership and the local community.
In his address, Wetang’ula commended the faithful for their steadfast commitment to building the house of God and urged them to continue embracing love, unity, and service as the foundation of a strong society.
Reflecting on the Sunday readings, the congregation was reminded that God is love and that Christians are called to live meaningful lives that leave behind a lasting legacy of love, kindness, and service to humanity.
The fundraising drive sought to mobilise resources to complete the church sanctuary, a project that has been at the heart of the Ndengelwa Catholic community for years. Leaders and well-wishers present made generous contributions towards the initiative.
The occasion brought together several leaders, including Bungoma Senator David Wakoli, Kanduyi MP Hon. John Okwisia Makali, Hon. Martin Pepela, Bungoma County Assembly Speaker Emmanuel Situma, Majority Leader Hon. Joseph Nyongesa, Hon. Polycarp Wandabusi, Hon. Antony Lusenaka, Hon. Grace Sundukwa and other local leaders.
Speaking at the event, the leaders praised the church for its role in nurturing moral values, promoting peace, and supporting education and community development in the region. They pledged to continue partnering with religious institutions to uplift residents.
The faithful expressed gratitude to the leaders for honouring the invitation, noting that their presence was a sign of respect for the church and encouragement to the community.
The Mass ended in celebration, song, and dance as congregants thanked God for the day and renewed their commitment to complete the sanctuary.
