Malava MP Moses Malulu Injendi has hailed President William Ruto for his move of not signing the controversial Finance Bill 2024 that almost plunged the country in turmoil.
Malulu while, addressing the publicat Malava primary School in Kakamega North Subcounty, said it was wise for the president to reject the Bill hence saving the country from sinking into anarchy.
He said, by acceding to the Generation Z demands, President Ruto exhibited wisdom adding the wishes of the majority need to be listened to.
The MP who revealed that he has been hiding from angry mob threatening to “greet him” for voting yes, in a move that saw Kenya’s young people erupt through demonstrations across the country, said he feared for his life and despite assurance from the security details within Malava that he was safe he had laid low.
He confirmed that the Finance Bill protests had opened a new chapter in the Kenyan leadership where the young people are now being listened to by the leaders.
“I saw what happened to my fellow legislators who voted Yes, and I said no way was I coming back home soon as I was also a victim with angry youths marauding in Malava baying for my blood but I thank God and the security apparatus for keeping me safe,” he said.
The MP who arrived at the event after a contingent of armed police officers led by the Kabras OCPD Paul Nkanatha Mwenda confirmed that he was still jittery from the protests against him and urged the public to spare him off their wrath.
He was speaking after the opening of a Ksh10Million learning resource centre in Malava comprehensive school donated by Isuzu East Africa.
