Revealed: UDA mole in Malava Opposition exposed

As the clock ticks to the November 27 Malava constituency by-election, secretes have started coming out on what is happening behind the scenes.

Sensing early defeat, seasoned politicians allied to the Opposition parties and who are in the race to replace deceased MP Moses Malulu Injendi, have turned to age-old dirty politics of spoiling the chances of their rivals by rocking the ship from within.

These seasoned politicians, smelling an embarrassing defeat at the hands of youthful entrants like lawyer Edgar Busiega, have hired bloggers and social media users to shape a narrative suggesting that the Opposition is planning to front a joint candidate in favour of a perennial loser.

Busiega, who has shaken the area’s politics with his brand-new engagement style, has captured the hearts of the youth, women and GenZs who see him as the right choice.

However, after bangling their only hope to clinch the Malava seat by frustrating Busiega, the Eugene Wamalwa-led DAP-K party has now employed propaganda in a bid to hide their infights and lack of vision.

At the moment, the once vibrant party is split in the middle with top leadership disagreeing on weighty party matters including the poor handling of the Malava politics.

Sensing a resounding defeat, the party has been secretly sending emissaries, including a sitting governor, to convince Busiega to ditch his DCP party and rejoin DAP-K with a promise of being handed a direct ticket.

Just days after settling on trade unionist Seth Panyako as its candidate, DAP-K has seen its popularity dropping at an alarming rate, not only in Malava but across the western Kenya region where it previously had strong roots.

A source close to the party, and who sought anonymity for fear of victimization, has intimated that the party leadership is not comfortable with their current choice of candidate as they view him as a perennial loser, non-principled and rubble rouser and an agent of confusion in the Opposition.

“We have a problem with him. He cannot be trusted to fly the party’s flag to the very end. There is growing fear that he might be a project of UDA to rock the party from within,” he said.

“Looking at his record of joining and leaving parties in the last six months, it is evident that he is on a mission of rocking the Opposition and giving UDA a chance to reclaim the seat. He is broke,” he added.

Panyako is a former top official of UDA party before he fell out and resigned his position.

Efforts to reach out to Panyako have been futile as calls to his number have been unsuccessful while at the same time, Busiega responded that he is not distracted by the sideshows and only focused on his campaigns.

“I am currently deep in the village and focused on our vision. My team and I are not willing to engage in politics of deceit as we believe in honesty for one to be called honourable,” he responded to our inquiries.
