Lusaka hails M-Pesa Foundation’s KSh55M power move at Toroso Primary
Governor Kenneth Lusaka has commended the M-pesa Foundation for its KSh 55 million investment in the construction of new learning facilities at Toroso Primary School in Chesikaki Ward, Mt. Elgon Sub-county.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony of a new classroom block at Toroso Primary School, Governor Lusaka hailed the M-pesa Foundation for its continued commitment to transforming communities through strategic educational development.
“This project will completely transform the lives of our learners and the community. M-pesa Foundation is doing a commendable job in elevating infrastructural development in our schools. We will continue to partner for the common good of our people,” said Lusaka.
He further acknowledged the efforts of National Assembly Speaker Dr. Moses Wetang’ula, crediting him for fostering development through strategic partnerships and lobbying.
“Speaker Wetang’ula is a great asset to our county. He has demonstrated his strong resolve for development in Bungoma, especially through this partnership with M-pesa Foundation. Let us support him,” Lusaka added.
The ambitious project, fully funded by the M-pesa Foundation under it’s Citizens of the Future programme,will see the construction of multiple key facilities including Early Childhood Development (ECDE) classrooms, Grade One to Grade Six classrooms, two Junior Secondary School streams, a fully equipped ICT laboratory, a science laboratory, and a new administration block.
M-pesa Foundation Chairperson Joe Ogutu, who also attended the event alongside other county leaders, confirmed that the project is expected to be completed by 2026.
“This is part of our commitment to ensuring that every child has access to quality education infrastructure and digital learning tools,” Ogutu stated.
The initiative is part of a broader collaboration between local leadership and development partners aimed at bridging educational gaps and promoting digital literacy in rural communities.
