Malala vanishes with DCP loot as Malava turns hostile for Gachagua party

The purported homecoming of the newly launched Democratic Citizens Party (DCP) of the embattled impeached former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua faced a backlash in Malava, a stronghold of Kenya Kwanza, forcing the organiser, former Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala, to disappear without paying the hired crowd.

Youth baying for the blood of Malala, who was accompanied by Meru Senator John Methu Muhia, launched a manhunt for him up to a funeral in Chemuche Ward demanding for their pay.

Malala is said to have asked mobilisers drawn from all the seven wards to come up with a list of individuals who would welcome him when he lands in Malava town to create perception that the party was welcome in the area promising to pay them Kshs 1000 each for attending.

The mobilisers had instructions to come with 40 people each, only to go home lamenting after completion of their task but without pay.

The electorate have asked Malala not to set foot in the area until he pays them their dues.

The impending by-election that is likely to be held before the year ends is being seen as the easiest battle for the Kenya Kwanza government as their candidate is likely to emerge victorious if the recent events is anything to go by and the daily plunders by the opposition is anything to go by.

Just a day earlier, president, William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet, hosted the leaders aligned to the government in South Kabras ward where more than Kshs. 8 million was realised in support of self-help groups.

Kibet has, in recent past, had a chain of activities wooing electorates to support the government.

Some of his trips have seen Lugusi secondary school get a bus,Samitsi girls high, and boys get millions of shillings and also Kimang’eti girls being supported.

He will be going round in all the seven wards with June 29th being a dee day for Chegulo/Butali ward where they will pitch tent at Matsakha with Kevin Mahelo the area member of county assembly elected on the United Democratic Alliance party playing the host.
