Lusaka announces free medical services for Bungoma PWDs

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has announced provision of free medical services for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in all public health facilities across the county.

The announcement was made during the International Day of Persons with Disabilities commemoration held at Uwanja Ndege Grounds in Kanduyi, an event graced by the Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua .

In a bid to enhance the welfare of PWDs, Governor Lusaka donated 100 wheelchairs to beneficiaries across the county and games kits to teams that represented Bungoma in the recent Paralympic Games.

“Our commitment to empowering persons with disabilities remains unwavering. By next week, the disability policy, which is at its final stage, will be assented into law to ensure the disability agenda is fully mainstreamed,” said Governor Lusaka.

The initiative is part of a broader county strategy aimed at improving healthcare access and promoting social inclusion for PLWDs.
