Ken Lusaka: Here is how to boost Eco-tourism

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has urged the integration of culture and sports as a key strategy to promote local eco-tourism.
Speaking during the Kapkugo Festival celebrations at Mt. Elgon, an event graced by Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Lusaka praised the festival’s role in fostering unity and enhancing eco-tourism.
“Events like this are more than just celebrations. They foster unity, preserve our treasured traditions, and contribute to local economic growth through cultural tourism,” Governor Lusaka remarked.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to preserving culture and announced plans to allocate an annual budget to support cultural programs and centers across Bungoma County.

CS Murkomen, in his address, assured residents that the Sports Ministry would expedite the completion of the Masinde Muliro Kanduyi Stadium, emphasizing its importance to sports and community development.
The three-day festival brought together a host of dignitaries, including Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, governors, principal secretaries, and other leaders.
Attendees were treated to vibrant traditional music, dance, cuisine, and an immersive journey through the region’s rich history and culture.
The Kapkugo Festival continues to position itself as a key driver of unity, cultural preservation, and eco-tourism in the region.
