School introduces learning App, assures parents of proper use of funds

A top performing sub county public primary school has introduced a new learning application to the school as one way of improving its performance.

St. Theresa’s Isanjiro Primary School has introduced the Zeraki learning App to the its learners with an aim of improving on its learning efficiency and bolster performance.

Speaking on September 26 to the press, the school management led by its parents’ association, two deputies and a senior teacher, who spoke on behalf of the head teacher Sister Caroline Wanjala, assured parents that the school had properly utilised funds meant for the 2023 KCPE prize giving day before the Ministry disbanded such ceremonies.

The parents who have been financing the prize giving day to recognize and award best performing candidates and motivate teachers, had so far collected a total of Ksh287, 000.

However, some had not yet remitted their contributions.

Consequently, it was agreed through a meeting that the cash be redirected to introduce the Zeraki learning application.

The school is the only one to hve the App in the sub-county.

The school’s deputy in charge of academics Angela Chepchumba, has commended the introduction of the application saying it will add value to the performance and even its mean-score as it has connected the teachers, parents and learners digitally through mobile system.

She said it was a reprieve for parents from purchasing of report books annually since they can access them via their phones.

“The introduction of Zeraki learning app remains to be one of our biggest milestones in our learning as it has not only improved efficiency in learning and connecting parents with their learners, but also, it has put the school on another level academically, and as teachers it has also eased our paperwork,” she said.

“We held a meeting and discussed the outcome of the government directive of scrapping off prize giving ceremonies which to us the parents had made it as a tradition with the main aim of appreciating the teachers and best performing candidates, and since we could not go against it, we had to resolve on how to put the already paid funds to good use that will see each child benefitting from it and hence we arrived at Zeraki as a solution that will bring onboard the teachers learners and parents to access their children’s progress and even receive reports cards trough the app,”

According to the senior teacher Madam Greta Musungu, in last year’s 2023 KCPE, the school posted impressive results being the top public primary school in the sub county reason for planning for the Prize Giving Day.

But things changed when such events were scrapped off leading to a meeting with parents to decide what to do with the contributed amount.

It is in this meeting that it was decided that they invest in the learning App, Zeraki.

“We have already installed the application and its up and running and so far we sensitized our parents about it and so far they have appreciated the move and this digital platform will assist the learner’s performance to greater heights,” said Musungu.
