What killed Mugai Secondary School student revealed

The cause of the death of a Form Four candidate of Friends School Mugai Secondary School has finally been revealed.

Speculations over the death of the student identified as Alvin Kulecho had been rife with some reports indicating he had been slapped by a teacher while other reports had alleged ungodly forces.

However, there is a sigh of relief for the school and closure for the family of the deceased student after a postmortem report released on Thursday, July 18 revealed that the student had died due to heart complications.

Kulecho was pronounced dead on July 11, at the Malava Hospital where he had been rushed after collapsing in school.

According to a postmortem report conducted at the Kakamega County Referral hospital by a family doctor, Alvin Kulecho died as a result of heart complications as it was confirmed that his heart had swollen three times, more than it should have been normal.

This puts to rest speculation that maybe he had been assaulted by a teacher at the school, a situation that had caused violence with enraged locals storming the school armed with stones and twigs.

The school principal Anne Masheti who had from the first day of the incident maintained that no teacher had assaulted the student and that he collapsed at the institution before being rushed to Malava subcounty hospital where he was confirmed dead, was happy that the school had finally been absolved from blame.

The family has also apologised for any utterances that hey may have uttered against the principal and the school.

The student’s father, Vincent Kulecho, has said he is satisfied with the autopsy report on the cause of his son’s death.
