Chaos rocks Kakamega Woman Rep’s event in Malava

A chaotic launch of “Matangi Mashinani”programme was witnessed in Malava sub-county of Kakamega when the county Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda presided over the event at St Anthony Kakoyi primary school.

The program is National government affirmative action fund (NGAAF) plan through her office.

It all started when youth who were demonstrating stormed the event demanding to be given water forcing security to intervene and calm before Muhanda who was seen as unsettled handed them some cash to calm them.

The youth who interrpted the program for more than an hour interrupted speakers who had already taken to the platform among them area senior education officers led by subcounty director of education Rose Chisumi.

They would exit and for a short time speeches proceeded until one of the speakers attempted to declare Muhanda as the governors before heckling began from the otherwise calm audience and this prompted a fight that lasted over 10 minutes with women and youth injured and some rushed to nearby Malava subcounty hospital bleeding.

It finally came out clear that the village strongly supports the current governor Fernandes Barasa and supremacy battle played out in the open.

Among those who attended are members of County assembly Geoffrey Sikolia of Chimuche,Peter Wanami(Shirugu/Mugai)and Kefa Musiya of East Kabras wards.

They asked the electorates to be accommodative of everyone opinion irrespective of who they support.
