Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka fires his entire Cabinet ‘in good faith’

Bungoma County Governor Kenneth Lusaka has dissolve his entire County Executive with immediate effect.

In a press release issued on April 9, 2026, the Governor announced that all Members of the County Executive Committee, the County Attorney and the County Secretary have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect.

He said the drastic move was undertaken under Section 40(1)(a) of the County Government Act, adding that the decision was made in good faith and in the broader public interest to ensure efficient governance and restore institutional integrity.

“…all Members of the County Executive Committee, the County Attorney and the County Secretary have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect,” Lusaka said in a statement seen by Mulembe News.

The Governor further indicated that communication on new appointments and transitional arrangements will be made in due course.

Lusaka also appreciated the outgoing officials for their service, reiterating his administration’s commitment to the rule of law and due process.

The unexpected purge comes after a petition to impeach some Executive officers was tabled before the Assembly Clerk.
