Osotsi attack: DCI speaks following Senator’s Kisumu beating
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has said the motive behind the brutal attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi in Kisumu is yet to be established.
According to the DCI, sleuths have already swung into action by reviewing CCTV footage at the Java Hotel, Western Mall as they pursue vital leads to unravel those behind the unfortunate act.
“The DCI is fully committed to getting to the bottom of this matter and will ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice. Members of the public will be kept informed as investigations progress,” the DCI said in a statement seen by Mulembe News.
CCTV footage published by the Daily Nation shows the moment goons stormed the eatery and viciously attacked the ODM legislator.
The goons, in a coordinated move, unleashed total violence against the Senator beating him mercilessly, throwing him to the floor, thumping and stomping him as he screams helplessly for help.
Java staff who were caught unawares, rushed to his rescue but it was after he had received a bad beating inflicting severe injuries on his face and other parts of his body.

Speaking after responding to the situation, Siaya Governor James Orengo condemned the incident and called for political tolerance.
ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, who was among the first leaders to confirm the attack, called on police to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and face the law.
Orengo has linked the attack to the position taken by Osotsi in ODM.
Osotsi, was recently kicked out as the ODM deputy party leader by a faction led by Siaya Senator Dr Oburu Oginga, who is now the party leader.
Osotsi, has been labeled as a rebel by working together with Sifuna and Orengo in dismissing the deal between ODM and UDA, commonly referred to us Broad based Government.
