Governor Barasa distributes free farm inputs, prioritises widows, PWDs

While farmers in the larger Rift Valley and Western regions stare at a shortage of farm inputs this planting season, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has launched a free distribution program of planting fertilizer and maize seeds.
This programme is targeting low-income families, women, widows, and Persons with Disabilities across the county.
The initiative, aimed at enhancing food security and empowering vulnerable groups, kicked off in Matungu Sub-County, where approximately 1,000 farmers received the inputs.

The distribution will continue across all 12 sub-counties, ensuring widespread access to essential farm inputs.
Speaking during the launch, Governor Barasa emphasized the importance of supporting small-scale farmers to boost agricultural productivity.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting farmers through similar initiatives, urging beneficiaries to make good use of the inputs for sustainability.
