Farmers endorse Dr Inyangala for powerful KSB position

Dr. Ronald Inyangala has been endorsed as the most appropriate candidate for the position of director Kenya Sugar Board for the upper western catchment area, which comprises Bungoma, Kakamega excluding Mumias area, Trans Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu and Northen Nandi counties.

Farmers led by Savu Kofia and Moses Ambani while addressing the press after aconsultative meeting with sugar cane farmers drawn from the voting zone held in Malava subcounty said that Inyangala was best suited candidate for the position from the area and that they had managed to prevail upon other individuals who had expressed interest among them Samuel Kopi to back his candidature and they have accepted to shelve their ambitions.

Inyangala hails from Mutsuma village of West Kabras ward in Malava subcounty.

Savu called on farmers from other areas to give support to Inyangala, arguing that he understands the plight of farmers among them poor cane prices, hardship in accessing of harvesting permit and poor road infrastructure despite millers having machineries.

The position was last held by the late Ewing Makhakha Mwombe before the board was scrapped, but the Parliament in a motion by Navakholo member of Parliament Emanuel Wangwe, Bungoma senator Wafula Wakoli have manged to bring it back and this sighs a relief to cane farmers.
