Listen, Mr Governor, Malava is shifting

Who will tell the Kakamega county governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa that Malava subcounty support is shifting day in out is the question on the lips of many of his few silent supporters who still believe the governor can redeem his image and make a comeback in 2027.

One of his supporters asks the question of why it is hard to access the governor both in his office and whenever he is visiting in the area?.

This question could best be answered by his pointmen and appointees in his administration, but unfortunately, they can’t be traced beyond social joints and funerals where they ferry hecklers to cheer them and jeer governors critiques all aimed at duping the governor that all is well.

The true picture on the ground is that if elections were to be held today, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa would come distant third after senator Bonnie Khalwale, who will get the highest number of votes in Malava followed by woman representative Elsie Muhanda.

Malava is among the subcounties with the highest number of registered voters, and as at year 2022 they stood at over 94,000.

However, it is not too late for Barasa, with two and half years, to the next general elections slated for the year 2027 as he can recruit the right people who can stand by him and defend his name at this hour of need in Malava subcounty.

It is worth noting that some of his appointees are demolishing him in public to the advantage of his opponents who are making inroads in the area thanks to the loose tongue’s.

In social spheres, the appointees openly tell the masses that “huyo ni mtu ya one shot” loosely translated to mean that the Governor is only a one term leader and that they need to prepare for a new face at the county’s top seat in 2027.

The appointees with loose tongues have in secret been heard bragging of how they even collect kickbacks for the governor in their departments claiming they hand him hundreds of thousands weekly for his weekend events and that they can’t be touched incase of a shove.

The interesting part is that they share the insight information on the happenings at the county with the opponents who use the same against Barasa.
