Higher Education PS Dr Beatrice Inyangala assures students, parents of affordable education

The Principal Secretary, State Department for Higher Education and Research Dr Beatrice Inyangala has outlined the ministry’s commitment in delivering quality and affordable relevant education across all levels.

Dr Inyangala, who spoke in Kakamega during an inaugural meeting between county and national government officials convened by county Governor Fernandes Barasa, emphasised the crucial role universities play in shaping careers besides driving economic development in our country.

She also urged higher education institutions to embrace transformation by engaging with local communities.

Also, she tackled misconceptions about the new funding model for university education saying tuition fee has never been increased noting that the model’s aim is to share costs more equitably between the government and families while ensuring that most vulnerable students continue receiving substantial support.

“You only need to pay Kshs 30000 for those in vulnerable situations pursuing courses like medicine,” she added.
