Governor Barasa rubbishes reports of misuse of KSh521M, terms claims malicious

Kakamega county boss Fernandes Barasa has brushed off reports of misuse of funds, terming them as malicious.
That the county spend Kshs 521 million on hospitality is not a true a reflection of what was spent as per the available at the county offices.
The governor noted that the county executive spent sh 290 million with the assembly spending 46.7 totalling to shs 336.7 million in hospitality, and the total is in the shs 521 million.
While responding to countyt9 county’s extravagant spending,he said the shs 58.7 million was put on water and electricity bills while shs 125.3 million in the General supplies.
With over 10,000 staff, which is the largest,Barasa noted that it is one of the biggest drivers of expenditure.
This vast administrative structure that comprises 12 subcounties with over 60 wards and 400 community areas drives the county’s expenses.
He, however, said that he has put in place austerity measures to reduce recurrent expenditure with more emphasis on development.
