Musalia Mudavadi’s office issues directive to Kenyans in Lebanon as war escalates
Kenyans living and working in Lebanon and their relatives in Kenya have been assured of Government support as the war between Israel and Hezbollah continues to get out of hand.
Relatives of Kenyans in Lebanon have raised concerns with their kin in the war ravaged Middle-East country pouring on social media platforms to call for help from the Kenyan government.
The State Department of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, through Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu, has called on Kenyans to ensure they are registered with the ministry as plans for their evacuation gets underway.
According to her, the government has put in place measures to ensure their safety and a safe return home.
Already, the government has issued a mobile phone number +25411475700 and urged Kenyans in the country to call for ease of safety coordination and reaction.
In August, a group of evacuees returned to the country, with the Ministry calling on those adversely affected to immediately get in touch for assistance.
“The first batch of Kenyans already arrived from Lebanon and evacuation is continuing as most of them continue to register. Those who register and they are in trouble are going to be evacuated,” she said earlier.
“Anybody who has any kind of problem needs to contact us on the numbers that we have issued. Anybody with an immigration problem should contact us,” she advised.
There are about 26,599 Kenyans staying and working in Lebanon, according to ministry statistics.
