Governor Barasa’s foot soldiers slam Woman Rep Elsie Muhanda

Kakamega county governor Fernandes Barasa’s team has told off county Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda over her criticism of the leadership of the county boss.

Speaking on Sunday, September 15 while attending Sunday service at Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) church in Kakoyi, Chemuche ward within Malava sub-county, the team said they do not like her vulgar utterances and demeaning other women leaders.

Every speaker blasted Muhanda in what seemed to be a political onslaught after she declared her interests to vie for the gubernatorial position in 2027.

They accused Muhanda of sabotaging the governor by alleging that he has failed to fit in his predecessor Wycliffe Oparanya’s shoes and that she was best placed to take over.

They alleged that Muhanda was out of order to keep on bragging that she was the perfect woman who should lead and reminded her that she was not the only one who could lead considering that she was voted not to display her figure but to serve the electorates respectively.

Former East Kabras MCA Lazaro Lucheveleli cautioned Elsie Muhanda against her ‘reckless’ utterances while she was using her proxies to rip off the Malava boda boda and small business traders.

Lazaro alleged that Muhanda was receiving kickbacks from the county business people through her ground persons who were collecting monies from the boda boda and Mama Mboga for them to be slotted to receive loans, tents umbrellas and chairs for businesses and yet she claims that they were free.

He also called on former Kakamega governor and now Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya to give the incumbent time to deliver to the people instead of hurriedly putting him on the weighing scale of criticism of development just two years after assuming office.

Lazaro stated that Oparanya’s leadership left many projects including the much hyped Malava dairy that is yet to be completed.

He said Barasa’s leadership and service delivery will be weighed come the end of his first term where his score card will be put on the test for his re-election.

The Manda Shivanga MCA David Kivishi urged his fellow leaders to be sincere with the governor’s leadership rather than gossiping behind his back and pretend to be his loyalists whenever he visits the sub-county.

Kivishi noted that it was time to tell the governor the truth about what the Malava residents’ thoughts on his laxity on development that has become a thorn in there is.

“Let’s not lie to the governor when he tours Malava that all is rosy and peaceful, and yet the residents are agitated by the slow pace of development programmes initiated within,” he said.
