Lusaka issues stern warning, puts corrupt officers on notice

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has issued a stern warning to county revenue collectors involved in fraudulent activities, attributing the decline in the county’s revenue base to corrupt officials enriching themselves through dubious means.

Speaking during a ceremony to hand over motorcycles to ward revenue officers at Mabanga ATC, Lusaka emphasized that any officers found engaging in such activities would face severe consequences.

He stated that the county is committed to boosting its revenue base, noting that counties can no longer solely rely on allocations from the national government.

The governor also cautioned enforcement officers against overstepping their roles by posing as revenue collectors, insisting they adhere strictly to their job descriptions.

Additionally, he warned county officers resisting transfers, suggesting that their reluctance was likely due to the formation of cartels within their workplaces.
