New kid on the block shakes South Kabras, rocks the show
Residents of South Kabras ward within Malava sub county have every reason to smile after the son of the soil has come out to initiate various projects aimed at uplifting their lives.
The move, which is being termed as political by some supporters of the incumbent MCA Josephat Wakukha, has seen a shift of allegiance from the current leadership as many residents push for the new entrant’s election as their MCA in 2027 elections.
Zacharia Mula Mula who hails from the ward has hit the ground running with several projects aimed at assisting the locals cope with the day-to-day life challenges.
Mula Mula, as he is popularly known, has positively changed the political minds of the locals who have now started doubting their 2022 choice of MCA they voted for.
From sponsoring primary and secondary school learners with school fees, uniforms shoes and other learning materials, constructing toilets for schools to preservation of culture through bull fighting tournaments, talent tapping through various sporting and music festivities, to providing food or the widows, the young politician is making heads turn within the ward anytime he is around.
Addressing the locals after the inter-denomination gospel choir competition held in Shing’odo PAG Church, Ingavila where over 15 different choirs competed, Mula Mula stated that he was determined on uplifting the livelihoods of the community through his philanthropy.
“We are gathered here today to give thanks and praise to the Lord through songs and dance and it is also part of strengthening our spiritual faith besides tapping talent and encouraging the young people to embrace church as their foundation.
“As team Mula Mula we are committed to see that our young people can access education easily have a conducive learning environment, support our vulnerable parents in fee payment and ensure that our widow mothers have food as we continue to encourage our young people to explore their talents through various sporting activities, all this is meant to create a vibrant and focused community that can stand up on its own and make sound decisions,’ he said.
He observed that the ward leadership had fallen short of the people’s expectations and that that is why he was approached to assist.
“I want to make it known that my conscience is clear and, any case, what I am doing is giving back to the community and it is not political at all.
“Let all those who are reading mischief in my doings to do so but team Mula Mula will continue to stand and support the residents of South Kabras in every little way we can and we will marshal support and resources from like- minded individuals to improve on the lives of our people,” he said.
“… and when 2027 approaches and the people feel like I should represent them, then whom am I to refuse after all leadership is God given. But so far we have at least reached out to many families with our initiative and the response is overwhelming, we wish we could have much more resources to support many more,” he added.
