Kakamega ODM leaders tell off EACC over Oparanya Cabinet nomination
ODM supporters in Kakamega County led by governor Fernandes Barasa, who is also the party chairperson, have warned the EACC against issuing statements to suggest former governor Wycliffe Oparanya does not fit to be a Cabinet Secretary.
Led by Governor Fernandes Barasa, Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera and Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe together with other leaders, were speaking during an ODM delegates meeting and appealed to the EACC to keep off the work of parliament of vetting the nominees and stop inciting the public against Oparanya.
President William Ruto nominated Oparanya for the position of Cabinet Secretary, Cooperatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
County ODM Secretary General Nabii Nabwera said they have also resolved clearly that the positions which have become vacant and belongs to Kakamega like the position that was being held by Oparanya as Deputy Party leader be reserved for the region.
“Looking at our numbers in the party, as the elected leaders our participation in the party we over qualify the position of deputy party leader,” MP Nabii said.
According to Nabii, it is malicious for the EACC to go for Oparanya yet his track record as an MP, minister and governor is well documented as being a performer.
