Matete Primary School alumni donate Kshs 600,000 administration block

Matete Primary School, located in Malava Subcounty of Kakamega County, recently received a Kshs. 600,000 administration block donated by its alumni.
The handover event was attended by members of the school board of management, parents, and representatives from the education office.
The alumni, led by the board chairman Situma Moses Wekesa, who also served as the chief guest, encouraged parents to invest significantly in their children’s education. He thanked the community for their support during the construction of the block, which has significantly improved the school’s facilities.
Wekesa praised the high level of discipline at the institution, crediting the collaborative efforts of teachers and parents. He noted that no indiscipline cases had been reported recently. He also emphasized the importance of parental involvement in programs that benefit their children, expressing concern over the low level of parental engagement.
School head Moses Matsanza expressed gratitude to the alumni for their contributions. He highlighted that the project was completed without the need for a fundraiser or political support, showcasing the alumni’s commitment.
Additionally, the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF) has announced plans to construct a new multi-storey classroom building at the school later this year. A representative of the area Member of Parliament, Malulu Injendi, confirmed that the request for classroom construction had been received and was in the procurement process.
