Chaos, fist fights, destruction as Malulu, Edgar Busiega supporters turn Malava funeral into battle field

Chaos erupted at a funeral in Malava Constituency after rival groups supporting incumbent MP Malulu Injendi and those of seat hopeful Edgar Busiega, who has the backing of the Gen Zs, after the legislator blocked the youthful lawyer from addressing mourners.

The funeral of the late retired teacher Solomon Makunda in Masungutsa location, Chemuche ward, turned chaotic after the factions locked horns following the MP’s gesture which angered his rival’s supporters.

The funeral had been peaceful until when the MP was invited to address by Leader of Minority at Kakamega County Assembly David Ndakwa.

Ndakwa was invited by Minority Whip Titus Kwoma who spoke after area MCA Geoffrey Sikolia.

Busiega was deliberately bypassed and ignored.

After sensing that their leader was not going to be recognised, an argument ensued between the two camps with the Busiega side demanding that he should be given a chance to address.

However, the rowdy Malulu supporters could hear none of it and Busiega was completely blocked from addressing the gathered mourners.

So far, Busiega has rattled the Malava politics amassing massive following from the youthful residents who fall under the millennial and GenZ bracket, who identify with him well.

Hell broke loose when the MP’s supporters hurled chairs, kicked blows forcing mourners to scamper for safety as they ran for their dear lives.

Busiega’s vehicle was badly damaged as its rear windshield was smashed while some of his supporters were attacked, yet he is a son from Malulu’s backyard.

The plain clothes police officers present could not manage to control the rowdy crowd and could only try to secure the MP but left Busiega’s camp at the unmerciful hands of goons said to have been hired from outside the area.

Two suspects involved in the chaos have been arrested and detained at Kabras Police Post as investigations commence over the unfortunate turn of events.

On his part, speaking at the police post, Busiega defiantly declared that he was not going to relent in his bid to wrestle the seat from the MP in the 2027 elections.

When Mulembe News reached out to the MP for his comment, he said: “Since you were there, I feel you are in a better position to balance the story, for the stoning and roughing up of those attending the funeral I cannot say anything as I was away from where all that was happening.”
