Come, let’s have a talk at my office, Lusaka invites Bungoma’s GenZ – VIDEO

Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka has extended a welcoming hand to the county’s young people for a day-long conversation at his office.

Speaking to Mulembe News on July 14, Lusaka said he was excited to meet the youths of his county for a candid conversation and vowed to offer a listening ear to them.

Noting that he has, over the years, been listening to them, he revealed that he has already started incorporating them in his administration, the latest being the 34-year-old County Solicitor Purity Masinde, who hails from Sirisia constituency.

“Mine is to thank our youths for hey have set an agenda across the country and I am inviting them because I am ready to have a discussion with them and explain in detail the plans I have which I may not exhaustively do in this interview,” Lusaka said during the interview on July 14 in Nairobi.

Lusaka, while welcoming the youths, urged them to be peaceful and not to be incited into violence, and destroy property saying the cost of repairing such infrastructure would derail the pace of development.

Also, he has urged politicians to keep off the affairs of the youths and let them air their views independently noting that the youths are mature, well informed and know exactly what they want.

He told politicians to use their own political forums to advance their agenda and stop infiltrating the noble cause being advanced by the Generation Z youths.

At the same time, he said that he does not have the powers to effect changes in the County Assembly leadership explaining that that can only be done by the House leadership and their respective political parties.

Consequently, Lusaka acknowledged challenges in availability of drugs in health facilities and said that plans are already underway to increase budgetary allocation towards the the same.

Further, expressed his remorse in not paying all Community Health Promoters (CHPs) explaining that challenges arose with the exchequer.

“Because of the exchequer, we have had delays in paying CHPs but I am promising that us a county and in cooperation with the national government, that starting this Financial Year, we pay them. And I am sorry for the delays,” he said as he promised to address the gaps.

He noted that the CHPs are close to his heart as they are among those who overwhelmingly voted for him and that he cannot sit by and see them wallow in hopelessness.

In another demand by the youths on employment of ECDE teachers, Lusaka said that in his first term, he had already employed at least 2000 teachers and during this last term, he is set to employ at least 200 teachers progressively.
