Senate is useless, scrape it off, MP now demands
Lugari Member of Parliament (MP) Nabii Nabwera now wants the Senate to be scrapped off.
According to the legislator, funds allocated to the Senate should be directed to paying salaries of teachers and employ more tutors arguing that he does not see the importance and specific role the Senate plays.
Nabwera who spoke on July 4 when he launched Frank and Muyugi comprehensive schools commonly referred to as 5G network classrooms, where five classrooms are constructed in a school at the same time, said that Members of County Assembly (MCAs) were playing the role of oversight in the counties and there was no need for the position of Senator.
To him, Senators have no known tangible projects that benefit the common mwananchi.
He at the same time called on President William Ruto to cut off foreign trips that are yielding nothing to the country and use the money for community based projects.
Nabwera said that in as much as the government is taxing its citizens, most of the monies in billions are spent on foreign travels by the President, Cabinet Secretaries, Permanent Secretaries and Members of Parliament.
He added that he was in support of the Generation Z’s call on wage bill reduction by removing unconstitutional offices that has proved to be a burden to taxpayers while satisfying individuals greed for money.
The Legislator voted ‘No’ to the controversial Finance Bill that has since been rejected by president Ruto and directed for subsequent withdrawal of the same by the Parliament.
Most legislators who voted yes from the Western region among them Malava’s Malulu Injendi are yet to come to the public fo fear of an imminent attack by angry voters who feel betrayed.
