Barasa slams Oparanya over supremacy politics, says bad for Luhya unity

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has warned against supremacy politics being played by Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya saying it threatens the unity of local leaders and residents.

Barasa said Oparanya was engaging in divisive politics at the same time wedging war against local leaders in his quest for a national seat instead of ensuring unity in the area.

“Charity begins at home. He should ensure the unity of the people of Kakamega instead of dividing them before thrusting himself in national politics,” he said.

Barasa castigated a grouping oscillating around around Oparanya describing them as self seekers who had no interests of locals at heart.

The Governor said this on Thursday during a public rally held at Malava Sub-county headquarters in Kakamega East Sub-county.

This was after he together with Malava Member of Parliament David Ndakwa launched a Shs 50 Millions rehabilitation works at Malava Level 4 Hospital.

Present was County Executive Committee Member for Health Livingstone Imbayi and a host of County Assembly Members.

Barasa said his administration was hell-bent on implimenting development to locals aimed at improving their welfares.

He thanked President William Ruto for honouring the the pledge towards the face-lift of the facility and support other areas development promising to reciprocate by ensuring he secures a second term in office in next year’s General Election.

Meanwhile, Barasa has revealed that he will not quite the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) any soon to join the opposition outfit saying they lacked vision for the country.

Barasa who is ODM County chairman said doing so amounts to betraying the late opposition doyen Raila Odinga wishes of a better Kenya.
