How Farouk Kibet is quietly winning Kakamega with development, not empty words
President William Ruto’s close aide, Farouk Kibet, has continued to endear himself to the people of Kakamega and the larger Western region by religiously honouring every promise he made during the hotly contested Malava by-election.
While other leaders went quiet after the campaigns, Kibet has remained a constant presence in Malava, proving that his love for the region is not seasonal.
The latest testament to his commitment is Mayuge Primary School, which has already received millions of shillings for infrastructure development as pledged during the by-election period. The funds have gone into classrooms and facilities that had stalled for years, breathing new life into the school.
And the goodies are not stopping.

This Friday, Kibet is set to deliver a brand new school bus to Samitsi Girls High School, fulfilling yet another key promise he made to the community while drumming up support for the Kenya Kwanza candidate.
The bus, residents say, will be a game-changer for the girls’ school, easing transport challenges during academic trips, sports, and co-curricular activities.
Locals in Malava have lauded Kibet as a man of his word, noting that unlike many politicians who disappear after elections, he has kept his foot on the ground and his phone lines are open.
“Farouk told us he will come back whether we win or lose. True to his word, he has been coming every other week, bringing development,” said a resident from Samitsi.
Kibet’s consistent engagement in Kakamega has been interpreted as a clear signal of President Ruto’s broader agenda for Western Kenya – development first, politics later.
As Samitsi Girls prepares to receive its bus on Friday, the message from Malava is clear: promises made are promises kept.
