Farouk Kibet to deliver brand new bus to Samitsi Girls School

President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet will, on Friday, October 30th, deliver a brand new school bus to Friends School Samitsi in a ceremony slated for the primary school grounds.

The delivery fulfils a pledge Kibet made during the heated Malava parliamentary by-election campaigns that saw the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate David Ndakwa clinch victory.

Kibet had promised residents that the Kenya Kwanza administration would prioritize education infrastructure and mobility for schools in the region.

Sources close to the organizing committee confirmed that preparations for the high-profile handover are in top gear, with parents, students, school management, local leaders and UDA party faithful expected to attend.

The event will be held at Samitsi Primary School grounds to accommodate the large crowd anticipated.

The bus is seen as a major boost for Friends School Samitsi, which has struggled with transport challenges for academic trips, co-curricular activities, and national examination logistics.

For years, the school has been forced to hire expensive private buses, eating into its limited resources and denying students exposure opportunities.

Residents have lauded Kibet as a man who honours his word. In Western Kenya political circles, the President’s aide has built a reputation for following through on public pledges, from harambees, empowerment programs to development projects, unlike many politicians who disappear after elections.

“Many leaders promise during campaigns and vanish. Farouk is different. He promised, we delivered the seat, and now he is delivering the bus,” a local elder who attended the by-election rallies said.

The Samitsi bus pledge was one of several commitments made during the by-election to consolidate UDA’s grip on Kakamega County.

Ndakwa’s win was viewed as a litmus test for the ruling party’s popularity ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The Friday ceremony is expected to be politically charged, with Kibet expected to drum up support for President Ruto’s development agenda and second-term bid.
