Bungoma DG Mbatiany urges transparency, order in Chebukube elections
Bungoma Deputy Governor Janepher Mbatiany has urged traders at Chebukube Market to strictly adhere to established regulations in the election of their market leadership.
Speaking while addressing traders at Masinde Muliro Stadium, Mbatiany reaffirmed the County Government’s commitment, through the Department of Trade and Energy, to ensure a transparent, credible, and inclusive electoral process.
She noted that the government is keen on safeguarding fairness and order in the management of market affairs.
Her remarks come amid emerging differences among traders regarding the forthcoming elections, with a section expressing concerns over aspects of the process.
The meeting provided a vital platform for open dialogue, allowing traders to air their views and seek clarification on key issues affecting the elections.

Following extensive deliberations, it was agreed that the elections, initially scheduled for April 23, would be postponed to a later date, which will be formally communicated to all traders.
It was further resolved that the voters’ register will undergo fresh vetting to enhance accuracy and inclusivity.
The Deputy Governor emphasized that strict adherence to laid-down rules is crucial in guaranteeing a free, fair, and credible election.
She called on traders to remain united, uphold mutual respect, and maintain order throughout the process.
“As a county government we gurantee you a safe, free and fare election,we will ensure strict adherence to laid down regulation are fully followed.” She Said.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to transparency, harmony, and collaboration in ensuring a peaceful and inclusive election that reflects the will of all traders.
