Beware: Fraudster using Education PS Dr Inyangala name to swindle job seekers

The public has been warned against sending money or engaging in any business with an individual identified as Isaac Tenge, who is using the phone number 0715645300 with a promise of offering jobs at the Ministry of Education.

According to the government, the fraudster has been demanding money from unsuspecting members of the public, claiming he is in a position to offer employment at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) through the office of the Principal Secretary for Higher Education, Dr Beatrice Inyangala.

The latest victim of the con is Mr Daniel Opuya Malala, from Esumeya Ward in Kakamega, who was defrauded of KSh 10,000.

The suspect allegedly used the name of the Principal Secretary to carry out the fraud.

The Office of the Principal Secretary has since issued a notice clarifying that it is not an employment agency.

“Please note: PS Office is NOT an employment agency. Recruitment of teachers is done by the Teachers’ Service Commission. Public servants are employed through the Public Service Commission. Universities employ their respective staff through the University Councils,” the PS’s office warned.

It stated that the recruitment of teachers is conducted by the mandated body, the Teachers Service Commission, while other public servants are employed through the Public Service Commission.

Universities, on the other hand, recruit their staff through their respective university councils.

Another phone number linked to the scam is 0717391740.

Members of the public have been urged to remain cautious and to report any such incidents to the police or relevant security agencies.
