KSh60M to benefit Kakamega women and PWDs to be out soon, Barasa reveals
Women, Youth and Persons With Disabilities (PWD’s) in Kakamega County are set to benefit from a Shs 60 Million social grant programme aimed at enabling them start businesses.
Governor Fernandes Barasa has revealed the funds, County Government Women Empowerment Programme, will be availed this Financial Year through the programme that will benefit at least 120 women groups from the area’s 60 Wards.
“The move is aimed at helping them start and grow their businesses hence strengthen their livelihoods through wealth creation,” he said.
Barasa said this on Sunday, March 22 during a church service at Mowar Roho Israeli Church in Bungasi in Musanda Ward, Mumias West Sub-county.
Members of the County Assembly led by Majority Leader Philip Maina and area Member of the County Assembly Joseph Omusinde accompanied the Governor.
The Governor also revealed that bursary funds will be released starting next week as the verification process for those to benefit had been completed.
The funds will go towards supporting grade 10 students.
Barasa said his administration is focused on improving the lives of residents.
