Don’t just register, ensure you vote and reshape Kenya, Lusaka tells GenZs

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has called on Kenya’s youth to not only register as voters but ensure they turn up in large numbers and vote for leaders who have the ability to reshape the destiny of the country.

It is through voting, he said, that the country’s positive development can be achieved after leaders with a proper development mind are elected into critical offices.

Speaking on Sunday, March 22 during a church service at City Harvest Church in Webuye, Lusaka urged the youth to avoid isolating themselves from critical national decisions.

“Young people must take responsibility by registering as voters so they can elect leaders of their choice instead of complaining about poor leadership after elections,” the Governor said.

Lusaka commended the youth groups for spearheading civic awareness initiatives, particularly the ‘Niko Kadi’ campaign, which he noted has played a significant role in encouraging young people to register and participate in elections.

“I applaud the youth behind the Niko Kadi initiative for creatively mobilizing their peers to take part in the voter registration exercise,” he added.

On development matters, the Governor assured residents that the County Government is working to strengthen healthcare services in the region.

He revealed that Webuye Hospital is set to receive a CT Scan machine to improve diagnosis and enhance access to advanced medical services for residents.

“We are committed to improving healthcare delivery. The installation of a CT Scan at Webuye Hospital will greatly boost diagnostic capacity and benefit our people,” Lusaka said.

He further disclosed that the long-awaited establishment of Webuye Municipality is nearing completion. According to the Governor, the process had earlier faced delays following a petition but has now reached its final stages.

“The municipality process is at the tail end, and the charter will be issued soon. This will open the door for improved infrastructure and accelerated development in Webuye,” he noted.

At the same time, Lusaka expressed appreciation to William Ruto for his recent development tour of Bungoma County, saying the visit unlocked major projects that are expected to transform the region’s economic and urban landscape.

“The President’s tour has brought significant development opportunities for our county, including the Bungoma Smart City project and other transformative initiatives,” the Governor said.
