Shimaka leads Malava leaders in backing Ruto for second term
Leaders from Kakamega county have expressed their support for President William Ruto’s second term bid terming him as a visionary leader set to transform the country.
Speaking in South Kabras ward in Malava constituency during a funds drive, the leaders displayed their unwavering support towards Kenya Kwanza administration terming it as having a soft spot for the constituency.
Led by Advocate of the High Court who is eyeing the Malava seat in the coming by election, Leonard Shimaka, they assured president Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet that the Mulembe nation will rally behind the Head of State and ensure that he retains his seat successfully.
Shimaka who donated Ksh 70,000 towards empowering women groups from within, said the government had shown its goodwill to not only transform the constituency but the country at large.
He rubbished the ongoing one-term campaigns being led by the embattled and impeached former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua as baseless and made out of anger and frustrations after he was kicked out of office.
He said the Malava people have been beneficiaries of the Kenya Kwanza through several development projects aimed at sprucing up development in the region.
“We have been enjoying goodies from the government and it is in public domain that we are close and right at the centre of the Kenya Kwanza administration in matters development and to reciprocate, we should direct our support to ensuring Willam Ruto serves his second term as President of this Republic so that we get more development,” he pointed.
Shimaka who is seen as the frontrunner in the Malava by election following the demise of MP Malulu Injendi, will be battling it out with over 30 other aspirants.
Shimaka who has e recognizable following within constituency, will be fighting for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket alongside principal Simon Kangwana, Enock Andanje, West Kabras MCA David Ndakwa and police officer Nelson Shilunji.
He is optimistic that he will clinch the UDA nominations ticket.
“I’ve unwavering dedication, profound expertise, and extensive experience within the law sector and social welfare programmes.
“Given the pivotal role as a Member of Parliament for Malava Constituency, the residents will greatly benefit from my remarkable leadership and vision,” he assures.
