Connie Lusweti corners Kakamega Woman Rep hopefuls, leaves them sweating
The race for Kakamega County Woman Representative gaining momentum with at least three candidates declaring interest in the position.
The incumbent, Elsie Muhanda, is set to vie for the gubernatorial position as she seeks to oust Fernandes Barasa in the coming 2027 General Election.
Top on the list of those seeking to replace Muhanda is the Kenya ports Authority member Dr Connie Lusweti, who has already hit the road running with the ground seemingly shifting in her favour.
Her candidature is seen as a blessing to the people from the Northern region of the county that comprises Likuyani, Lugari, Malava, Navakholo, and Shinyalu subcounties.
Lusweti is likely to bag the position early if the vote bloc remains intact.
Former nominated senator Naomin Shiyonga has declared interest to vie for the Malava parliamentary position in the coming by elections a clear indication that she may not be interested in going for the woman representative position again in the year 2027.
Others who have declared interest are Rachael Ameso, who held the position between 2013 and 2017, and lost it to Muhanda.
She was appointed as a member of the parliamentary service commission.
Also, Juliet Osundwa and Shea Isiye have shown interest in vying for the position.
