Luhyas to determine president in 2027 – Lusaka

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has declared that Western Kenya will be the battleground that determines the winner of the next presidential election.

Speaking in Khalaba, Kanduyi Constituency, during the funeral of Geoffrey Makhakha, brother to Kanduyi MP John Makali, Lusaka emphasized the region’s numerical strength, urging the Mulembe nation to seize the opportunity by forging a united front.

“This coming election, the presidency will be won or lost in Western. We must be strategic,” the governor stated.

Lusaka underscored the need for Luhya leaders to put aside their political differences and work together to maximize their influence.

He noted that with the exit of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his Mount Kenya allies from the central political stage, attention would now shift to the vote-rich Western region.

“As leaders of this region, our first priority is unity, which will enable us to push for the revival of collapsed industries and the completion of stalled infrastructure projects,” Lusaka affirmed.

His remarks come amid growing political realignments ahead of the next general election, with Western Kenya increasingly seen as a crucial swing region in the race for State House.
