Malava Boys breaks decades-long record, sends highest number to university since establishment

Friends School Malava Boys in Kakamega County has sent the highest number of students directly to university since its establishment in 1963 as a mixed school.
Two years later, in 1965, the girls were phased out and became a boys only boarding among schools sponsored by the Friends (Quakers) church.
In the recently released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination, the school under John Wakwabubi as its head, managed to get 145 students attaining the required grade C plus and above earning them direct space to the university.
With two students getting the quality grade of A minus, the school also managed to have 12 students scoring grade B plus,17 B plain, 43 B minus, and 71 C plus.
Also, the school had 109 students getting grade C plain while 65 got C minus.
Education stakeholders have hailed Wakwabubi for bringing back the area’s giant school on educational map saying it is headed in the right direction.
