Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, Speaker Wetang’ula thrown into mourning as their mum dies

The mother of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, Mama Anne Nanyama Wetang’ula, has died.

Mourning the death of Mama Anne, Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka described her as a devout Catholic who dedicated much of her life to selflessly serving the church and fostering a strong moral foundation among children.

“Her unwavering commitment to her faith and her community distinguished her as a pillar of hope and inspiration.

A remarkable community mobiliser, mentor, and family matriarch, she positively transformed countless lives through her compassion, wisdom, and selfless deeds,” Lusaka said.

“Her enduring legacy is reflected not only in the exemplary lives of her children but also in the indelible impact she made on all who had the privilege of knowing her. During this profoundly difficult time, may her family and loved ones find comfort and strength in the cherished memories of her remarkable life and the enduring love she leaves behind,” he mourned.

Other leaders from Bungoma county who have since condoled with the Wetang’ula family include Kimilili MP Didimus Barasa and Kanduyi MP John Makali.

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of your beloved mother, Khukhu Anne Nanyama Wetang’ula. Her deep Catholic faith, tireless service to others, and nurturing leadership as a matriarch shaped our community in profound ways,” Makali said in a statement.
