Our MCA is godsent, Manda-Shivanga residents hail David Kivishi
David Iraya Kivishi is the current Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Manda/Shivanga Ward of Malava sub-county, Kakamega but many say he ought to seek a higher office due to his good development record for the past two years.
However, despite the compliments, the MCA himself says he is yet to his his expectations in offering service, reason he wants to vie for a second term.
His development record speaks volumes rather than words, and many say action is the loudest.
He seems to have taken that word seriously, and he has positioned himself as a true peoples’ servant.
Elected on Senate Speaker Amazon Kingi led Pamoja African Alliance (PAA), a little known party not even associated with the western Kenya region, Kivishi immediately hit the road running to uplift the lives of his electorate through improvement of infrastructure and self help group empowerment, among other initiatives.
For instance, he has launched a bursary from his own pocket, and this is seeing many children in high schools and tertiary institutions who come from vulnerable families pursue education as he believes an educated society is empowered.
While some of his colleagues are parading themselves at the county offices to seek assistance towards road maintenance, through his connections, Kivishi has been able to bring on board Butali and West Kenya Sugar factories whose machineries have pitched tent in the area to do repair works on various roads that had become impassable due to heavy rains that have been witnessed across the country.
As if that is not enough, residents from the area enjoy free ambulance services for those with emergency medical cases as three vehicles have been put on stand-by to handle the same.
Schools and markets in his area also have had toilets constructed, and for various markets, Bodaboda shades have been built courtesy of his vision and personal effort.
In ensuring that women and youth get empowered, he recently held a mega fundraiser that saw National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwah and president William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet grace the occasion raising millions of shillings for more than 120 groups aimed at boosting their kitty.
He believes this will change their lives for the better and become self reliant.
In ensuring that his electorate are connected to mobile telecommunication, Kivishi reached out to the service providers who have built a booster in the area, and the residents of Fubuye and Namagara now can enjoy undisturbed network on their phones.
To many of the electorate, they believe the MCA is God sent and have promised to give him support.
