Owalo leads tree planting at Maseno School

Deputy Chief of Staff in the executive office of the President, performance and delivery management Eliud Owalo led the Board of Management, Teachers, students, and other staff of Maseno School in planting more than 10,000 tree seedlings within the Precincts of the School.

The initiative is aligned to the governments 15 billion tree planting programme aimed at restoring sustainability in the environmental ecosystem.

In his address, Owalo appealed on all stakeholders within Kisumu County to step up tree-planting efforts with a view to closing the gap between the current threshold of 8.85% within the County to the national minimum target of 10% of total area coverage.

Maseno School Chief principal Peter Owino, in his address, applauded the government for recognising the school, saying it can’t be taken for granted that such a big number of tree seedlings can be planted in a single day and this forms part of the big story in the institution history that will live on many years to come.

The board of management Chairperson Ambrose Otieno Weda while thanking Owalo for his continued support to the school expressed confidence that this year’s candidates were well prepared for exams and that they would be producing the highest number of university entries.
