Barasa dismisses Khalwale over Kakamega Level 5 hospital claims
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has dismissed allegations by Senator Boni Khalwale of consultancy challenges and negligence at the Kakamega Level 5 Hospital.
Speaking at the Kenya Assemblies of God Church Alumako in Musanda, Mumias West Sub-County, Barasa defended the hospital staff, stating that the doctors are diligently performing their duties.
He addressed concerns raised after the unfortunate deaths of two women who passed away while giving birth at the facility.
The governor termed the incidences as unfortunate cases of bad luck rather than negligence, countering accusations made by Senator Bonny Khalwale.
βThe doctors at Kakamega Level 5 Hospital are working tirelessly to serve our people. The sad occurrences involving the two mothers were not as a result of any failure on the part of our medical staff, but situations that were beyond their control,β he emphasised.
He also took the opportunity to call out on Senator Khalwale, urging him to refrain from spreading what he described as propaganda.
The governor stressed the importance of telling constituents the truth and supporting the county’s healthcare efforts.
He further criticized the senator for claiming that Kakamega County has already received Ksh 18.5 billion for the 2024/24 financial year.
He clarified that there is currently a stalemate on the Division of Revenue Allocation for this financial year, which has delayed the release of funds from the National Government to counties.
