Barasa tears apart Muhanda, calls for accountability
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa took a swipe at the County Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda tearing apart her development record in the past seven years and termed it as very poor.
According to the governor, there is no tangible project that can be attributed to the Woman Rep despite heavy funding through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) kitty.
Speaking in Manda/Shivanga in Malava subcounty when he graced the World Food Day celebrations, Barasa asked Muhanda not to shift goal posts and claim to have been abused whenever questions are raised about how her office utilises the Kshs150 million received annually.
He noted that while other women leaders in other counties were putting up shades and building market stalls for their people,it is shocking that the Kakamega woman leader was spending millions of shillings to distribute umbrellas which don’t even last a month while at the same time spreading unfounded propaganda about other elected leaders.
While expressing displeasure at the conduct of Muhanda, Barasa maintained that he has respect for women and that those elected to serve should not fear positive criticism on how they are utilising public funds by playing diversionary politics.
