Focus on local development, don’t be distracted with national politics, Malava MP tells constituents
Malava MP Moses Malulu Injendi has advised his constituents to focus more on local development instead of being heavily involved in national politics.
Speaking in Malava at the weekend during a colourful ceremony of handing over brand-new buses to local schools – PEFA Chimoroni and Friends Shamoni Secondary Schools – Injendi warned that national politics comes with a huge price, noting the recent deaths of Generation Z protesters that has left many families without their loved young ones.
The MP warned that it was risky for the Malava people to engage in national matters and criticizing the government on its move to have a broad-based government.
“Many of you might not be in support of the ODM stalwarts being incorporated in government with Raila Odinga and President William Ruto coming to work together for a common goal, but that is the way it is.
“There is nothing more you can do. Try to focus on your local politics and how development can be achieved, but if you actively engage or and let your teenagers to go to the streets and rampage against government, they are likely to be shot at, arrested and even killed, let us all observe the rule of law and be law abiding citizens,” he advised.
Mr Injendi said it was time Kenyans focused on development achievements and put aside politics considering that it was only two years after the last General Election was conducted.
“You have an obligation to vet us leaders basing on the development records available and also hold us responsible for failed ones instead of engaging in national politics that comes at a cost, whether we like it or not the broad-based government is in place and here to stay and the earlier we agree and adjust to that then the better for us,” he said.
The third time MP advised the locals to zero in on grass-root politics to get the needed development as that was what was affecting them directly.
“We know that Raila is now in government and soon he is going to be the African Union Commission chairman and we cannot deny nor change that even if you are not in support that is the way it is, our core mandate is to improve our constituency,” he said.
The MP called on the locals to stand firm and put in check local leaders and stop national bickering that will endanger their lives and those of their children.
“The Presidency is a sensitive thing that can have serious repercussions if mishandled through demonstrations and despite your party affiliations kindly tread carefully when addressing it,” said the MP
On the ravaging bursary debate, he advised the locals to support the survival of CDF in the MP’s Kitty as it has bolstered education through bursary allocation to many schools.
Despite the calls and ruling by courts to have it taken away from their kitty come 2026, Malulu said its withdrawal from their management will see more schools and learners suffer as it is the MP who knows who and who in their constituencies needs the bursary and which other area can the funds be used to develop.
Injendi was addressing hundreds of residents who had turned up to come and witness the occasion of handing over of the buses.
