Edgar Busiega continues to rattle Malava politics as rivals develop cold feet
The entry of renowned lawyer and Advocate of the high Court Edgar Busiega in the race for the Malava parliamentary position has sent shivers down the spine of many aspirants including the incumbent Malulu Injendi who has declared interest to give a fourth stab to seat position he has held since 2013.
Busiega hails from Musingu village of Chimuche ward just a few metres from Injendi rural home and is known to be a down to earth personality who has always stood with the people and his candidature deals a blow to his voting bloc.
Busiega, who is in his 30s, enjoys the backing of the majority of youth even as it is said Injendi is trying to reach out to him to drop his bid this early but all in vain.
He has already rolled out development programs that touches on the lives of electorates and this is endearing him well with them as recently, he distributed five cows to groups in the Chimuche ward, which was a launch of his one cow initiative which he said will empower individual members economically.
Also, he is involved in education for needy but bright students from the area where he pays full fees, and this has seen over 100 students in secondary school and higher learning institutions from the constituency benefit.
Since his declaration months ago, his presence has sparked a fierce supremacy battle as the incumbent fights to redeem himself over the alleged skewed development in the constituency.
Injendi is accused of neglecting the lower part of the Constituency that comprises of Shirugu/Mugai, South Kabras, West Kabras and Chegulo Butali wards and instead heaping all the developments from road, schools and other infrastructures in his backyard of Chimuche ward and East Kabras wards and partly Manda/Shivanga ward.
The electorates who feel left out in many aspects are the ones advocating for the new change, hence citing Busiega as the suitable candidate who will drive the last nail into Malulu’s political coffin in 2027.
Malulu is seen as a nonstarter, considering that he is seeking reelection even as his 15 years of barbaric rule as the Malava Mp has very little to brag home about from the residents.
With his recent flop of voting to salvage the agriculture cabinet secretary Mithika Linturi from impeachment over the fake fertilizer saga to the voting Yes to the embattled finance bill that caused a national wide uproar and demonstration leading to deaths of some of the Gen Z propagators, many have seen him as not serving the voters interest but his own and the two blast occurrences are the ones that has left him totally exposed.
Among those who have declared interest are the Kenya national union of nurses, Secretary General Seth Panyako, who came second in the last election, commissoner of police Nelson Taliti, and government surveyor Benjamin Nalwa.
