Don’t shift blame for incompetence, Malava residents tell Governor Barasa and all MCAs

Electorate drawn from across Malava subcounty of Kakamega county now wants Governor Fernandes Barasa and all the seven MCAs to take full responsibility for their incompetence in delivering services to the people as per their manifesto and stop shifting blame to the national government.

Malava has seven elected MCAs led by the county assembly minority leader David Ndakwa (West Kabras) and Kevin Mahelo (Butali Chegulo) both serving their second term but have been allegedly turned into flower girls by governor Fernandes Barasa.

It is claimed that he pays them appearance fee of Kshs 5,000 every time they accompany him to functions whenever he visits the area and heaps praises on him to the shock of the voters.

Other MCAs are David Kivishi (Manda/Shivanga), Kefa Musiya (East Kabras), Josephat Wakukha (South Kabras), Geoffrey Sikolia (Chemuche) and Peter Wanami of Shirugu/Mugai ward.

Shirugu-Mugai Ward MCA Peter Wanami. The worst road (Malava-Samitsi road) is in his ward.

The poor state of roads, empty promises and stalled projects are among other issues that are causing ripples between the leaders of county assembly and the electorates who are now praying daily for their tenure to end so that they can sent them home through the ballot.

Malava plays host to two sugar factories of West Kenya and Butali that remits millions of shillings to the county government weekly as cess money aimed at improving road networks but the leaders watch and clap as the same is channeled to other subcounties.

On the other hand area Member of Parliament Malulu Injendi has taken upon himself the initiative to repair and maintain the road from Chimoi passing through Fubuye connecting to Ikoli that has been in the past maintained by the county government during the day’s of former governor Wycliffe Oparanya but has been neglected by Barasa subjecting the electorates to unwarrantedsuffering.

He has accused the county government of Kakamega for failing to rise to the occasion and serve the people, but instead, investing in guns for hire individuals who have little or no understanding of devolved units and national government mandate have been tasked to roam in funerals spreading lies.
