Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi launches NG-CDF strategic plan empowering youth, elderly

In a landmark event held at the Westlands Constituency Development Fund (CDF) offices, Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi officially launched the Westlands NG-CDF Strategic Plan.

The event was a indicative to the MP’s commitment to development, youth empowerment, and support for the elderly.

The strategic plan outlines a comprehensive vision for the future of Westlands, focusing on sustainable development and social welfare programs.

During the launch, MP Wanyonyi emphasized the importance of collective efforts in achieving the constituency’s goals.

One of the highlights of the event was the issuance of driving licenses to 180 youth who had undergone extensive training sponsored by the Westlands NG-CDF.

This initiative, in collaboration with Rocky Driving School, is part of the MP’s broader youth empowerment program.

The training focused on road safety measures and driving lessons, aimed at equipping bodaboda riders and young drivers with essential skills.

“We are investing in our youth to ensure they have the skills and opportunities needed for a brighter future. This driving program is just one of the many ways we are empowering the younger generation,” said MP Wanyonyi.

In addition to youth empowerment, the Westlands NG-CDF has made significant strides in supporting the elderly. The program enrolled 200 senior citizens into the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), providing critical health coverage to the neediest residents above 60 years old.

The initiative will see KES 2 million allocated to cover their premiums, ensuring they have access to essential medical services.

Furthermore, MP Wanyonyi distributed Uwezo Fund Cheques to 26 youth, women, and persons with disabilities (PWD) groups from the constituency.

The Uwezo Fund aims to expand access to finance, generate self-employment, and promote entrepreneurial culture among these groups. The cheques will provide much-needed financial support for various community-driven development initiatives.

The event was graced by several notable guests, including Hon. Fatma Jehow Abdi, Wajir County Woman Representative, who praised MP Wanyonyi for his dedication to serving the common citizen.

Raphael Nduati, Chief Manager Corporate Planning at the NG-CDF Board, also attended and lauded the consistency of CDF in making five-year development plans.

Mt. View MCA Maurice Ochieng was also present to show his support.

In her speech, Hon. Fatma Jehow Abdi remarked, “MP Tim Wanyonyi’s efforts in youth empowerment and community development are exemplary. His work is a model for other constituencies to follow.”
