Prof Otieno calls on Lwanda students to embrace discipline, tells parents to lead by example

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Prof Kenneth Otieno has urged students of Lwanda Secondary School in Shinyalu constituency to embrace discipline in order to succeed in academics.

Speaking during the school’s AGM, Prof Otieno who was the chief guest told students to stop early boy and girl relationships saying there’s time for everything and at the moment, they should concentrate on their studies.

“Without discipline you cannot become a teacher or Professor. It does not matter whom you are, whether you are a prominent personality, if you don’t have discipline you will suffer. Please that is my desire for you,” he said.

At the same time, Prof Otieno advised parents to be committed in embracing discipline by paying school fees on time in order for school activities to run smoothly.

“The more you don’t pay fees the more the cost of goods become higher. I believe parents will provide and will give resources to your children,” he said.

The school principal Cassius Katachi said when the school reaches six streams, it will need to add 28 more teachers and this translates into a huge wage bill which the school is struggling to cope up.

In matters of infrastructure he said the school needs a twin laboratory to cater for the increasing population as they wait to receive learners transiting from Junior Secondary to Senior Schools.

” We expect neat people with neat minds so that our image as a school is enhanced. We expect our boys to be well groomed to protect the name of our school. That is the importance of being well behaved and well groomed,” he noted as he urged parents to ensure their children have school uniforms.
