As the Kakamega governor recently released remaining Ksh.20 Million to Malava sub county’s five wards, the future and fate of 12 bright but needy students of Friends Lukala Secondary School now hangs in the balance over failure by their parents to raise school fees.
The students who have accrued fee balances with others yet to remit ay payment since they started school has raised concerns prompting the school to appeal to leaders both at the county and national government as well as well-wishers to come to their aid and see them continue with their education.
The 4 boys and 8 girls are in Form One and Form Two respectively and hail from humble backgrounds where some have no stable families and parents too.
Speaking to Mulemmbe News at their school, the learners expressed their urge to continue with their studies and urged any well-wishers to come to their aid as they yearn to also excel in life and assist others in future.
The girls specifically called out on the Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda to come to their aid through her NGAAF as she is on record supporting the girl child with over 600 girls benefitting from her initiative.
The girls stated that they were undergoing many challenges including access to sanitary pads and even other basic needs that if provided, they will be able to study and perform to better.
On their side the boys pleaded with the area Member of County Assembly (MCA) Wanami, MP Malulu Injendi and Governor Fernandez Barasa that have bursary and scholarships allocations to come to their rescue.

The deputy principal Jemimah Nekesa said the school has been cushioning the learners by allowing them to learn free as they are bright students.
“Sometimes when we sent them home for school fees they will stay weeks away as the parents are unable to raise the amount so we retain them in school to give them equal opportunities to learn like others,” she said.
“As a school we are concerned about their welfare and hence calling out to the county and national government and even nongovernmental organization to come to our id as the school has little population and meagre resources to be able to sustain this huge numbers effectively and it has become a challenge for us,” she said.
She said the school has seen their potential and is willing to support them attain their education goals but their resources are not enough to cater for all of them.
This is an upcoming sub county school where parents are not well off in terms of finances and that is why many are unable to complete their education.
