Malava MP faces fresh headache as constituents collect signatures to recall him
Malava residents will kick-start the process of recalling their member of Parliament Malulu Injendi on Monday 8th 2024, accusing him of misusing power donated to him through their votes.
The electorate under Articles 97 and 98 have the right to recall the member of Parliament representing their constituency before the end of the term of the relevant House of Parliament.
The article now seems to favor the electorates of Malava who now say the 2027 general elections seems too far for them hence need to recall the third time legislator who they are accusing of representing himself at the Parliament.
Voting for the controversial financial was one of the grave mistakes Injendi committed as they had warned him earlier but he went against their wish as claims of Ksh. 2 million bribe to the legislator emerged afterwards just weeks after a parliamentary select committee he was in cleared agriculture cabinet secretary Mithika Linturi off any engagement in the fake fertilizer scandal.
The area was later hit hard by demonstrations with the public yet to come to terms with the MPs’ actions as he is yet to be seen in public as youth with youth currently employed to guard his home in fear of an imminent attack.
Additionally, Injendi has been accused of side lobbed development where only his home areas receive multimillion projects funding from the National government constituency development fund.
His close associates and children are among the contractors even as claims of him demanding 10 percent bribe through his close people emerge.
Skewed award of bursary where those close to him are given Ksh30,000 as other beneficiaries bag kshs 2,000 has also not gone down well with the voters.
Malava constituency is a hotbed for politics and should the petition to recall Injendi go through then the more than six candidates who have shown interest will battle out for the position.
Among those who have hit the ground running are Kenya National Union of Nurses secretary General Seth Panyako who came second in the last general elections in a court contested victory, Benjamin Nalwa and environmentalist Caleb Burudi.
However, Panyako is seen as the front runner and all indicators are, he will easily bag the position home.
